About me

Passionate about change, driven by social justice

I was raised in a small town in southern Catalonia by liberal parents who had grown up in post-war Spain. They taught me ethics, and often reminded me that rights are not just acquired, but that they need to be protected and fought for. Integrity is therefore important to me. Even when compromises have to be made as we encounter our messy world, I try to hold on to my principles.

This is probably the reason I chose to study journalism, and why my career has been restricted to organizations whose missions bring positive impact into our world. I enjoy working with projects, organizations, and people who believe change is possible. And I am also often moved by the content we produce, the people I interview, and the teams I work with. This is how I bring the best of myself into every project.

MY BACKGROUND

From local to global

My background is a melting pot of international, multicultural experiences rooted in my journalism studies in Spain, and in the UK. I am a graduate in Journalism by the Universitat Rovira y Virgili, and hold an MA in International Journalism from Cardiff University. While my bachelor’s degree offered a wider training in communication studies and public relations, my masters gave me the opportunity to explore broadcasting, and learn how to be in front of a camera and behind a microphone. My dissertation on the challenges faced by foreign correspondents in Russia provided me the chance to carry out academic research, and to meet high profile international journalists reporting from Moscow.

I have lived, studied, or worked in Paris, France; Tampere, Finland; Cardiff, Wales; The Hague, Netherlands; Kashmir, Delhi, and Andhra Pradesh in India, and in Barcelona. I have been part of and managed teams of people from diverse cultural backgrounds, operating from multiple locations and time-zones. Currently, most of my work is in English, but I am a native Spanish and Catalan speaker, and I am fluent in French.

I recently undertook London School of Economic’s course on Sustainability Communications Strategies, and have done specialization courses on Humanitarian Communications, and Electoral Observation.

PROFESSIONAL

Trajectory

Throughout my career journey, I’ve had the privilege to work with amazing people who have taught me, mentored me, trusted me with their projects, and helped me become the professional I am now. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to meet and work with personalities in the field of politics, international relations, sports, media, and the arts. Having worked for a UN tribunal, a development NGOs, and other international organizations – both from headquarters and stationed in the field – has broadened my perspectives, made me wiser, and provided me with life-changing experiences.

Since 2019, I have been working as a contractor for WorldSkills, the global hub for skills excellence and development. I came into the organization as part of the WorldSkills Museum team, set to open its doors in 2023 in Shanghai, China. Soon after, I was pulled in as Senior Communication Manager for their biannual international skills championship, WorldSkills Kazan 2019. Ever since, I have provided support for both the MarCom Department, and in the organization of WorldSkills Conference 2021 and beyond.
From 2015 to 2019, I worked as International Communication Officer for the Rural Development Trust – Vicente Ferrer Foundation, and as Communications Officer in India for the Fundación Vicente Ferrer.
As part of the Public Affairs Office of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in The Hague, I worked as Press Assistant from 2011 to 2013, and as Web Content Officer in 2014-15. Before that, I held an internship at the International Criminal Court.
