Strategic communications for non-for-profits

Over the past 15 years, I have worked with communications departments of international organisations, international NGOs, and other non-for-profits at different levels and in different roles. This has given me a 360º perspective of the different factors that lead to an effective communications strategy. From structuring a communications department from scratch, to building partnerships, and developing media relations, I can help your organisation reach the right people to increase your impact.

Sustainable communications strategies

With the Sustainable Development Goals guiding the decisions of governments, development agencies, and funding institutions, it is key for your organisation to properly communicate how your programmes align and contribute to the global agenda. There is increasing awareness and urgency on climate action, making the general public demand more transparency the carbon footprint of their trusted organisations. As sustainability is a complex issue, such complexities need to be addressed in a case-by-case basis and communicated in a way that balances the publics and your stakeholders interests and needs.

There are both challenges and opportunities involved in creating dialogue around your own organisation’s sustainability efforts. I believe the basis for communications strategies is to engage your audiences to understand what are their attitudes, values and believes, an understand their expectations.
I have been trained in applying the TADD model (trust, access, disclosure, dialogue) as a framework to create effective communication strategies. Taking into consideration the context in which your organisation works, I can identify simpler and more relatable ways to sustainability communications.

Conference and event management

From coordinating large media groups, organizing press conferences, to coordinating the content for international conferences, I apply my training in journalism in ensuring that your audiences are provided with content that interests and engages them.

These are the types of events I can organise and the services I can provide:

  • Conference programme coordination. Coordinate and engage with conference partners and participants to curate engaging and relevant sessions and discussions for your conference. I have experience with organizing multi-agency international conference, creating concept notes, and session rundowns.
  • Media workshops and trainings. Organize a workshop or a training that will help members of the media gain expand their knowledge, identify you as an expert source, and become an opportunity for exchange and engagement.
  •   Press conferences.
  •   Coordinating media pools in large events.
  •   Creating media packages, and briefings.
